Jo couldn't have had a more sour look on her face if she tried as she slumped into room 104 for detention, and upon seeing the look on Mr. Flore's face, her mood only grew fouler. She as 5 minutes late, she was woken up at 7:00 AM on a Saturday, and she totally didn't deserve to be here. One look at he detention slip could tell you that much. Under the reason for her receiving a detention, Mrs. Baker wrote: "Inappropriately protecting Motham city."
It wasn't even like she did anything bad
. Kinda. At recess, she climbed up the batting cage behind the home plate at the kickball field, and she was sitting at the top, crouched down, and was scanning the schoolyard for opportunities to dish out vigilante justice. When Mrs. Baker found her, Jo tried to explain that she was Catgirl and that she had to do her dad, Commissioner Jordan proud. Mrs. Baker didn't think it was funny.
It wasn't even like this was the worst thing that anyone's ever done. Just last week, Julien and Harry got two
detentions because one of the 8th grade teachers found out about their stupid game of Hide-and-Go-Poop. All the kids knew about it, but no one was willing to tell on them or explain it to the teachers.
Or there was that time that Jenna asked Mr. Crowley, the P.E. teacher if they could watch the Olympics in class, and when he said no, she called him a communist. That was was kind of funny, though.
And then her detention two weeks ago was really
dumb. Mrs. Baker gave them busy work, Jo finished (although, it was sloppy work), and so she pulled out a book of silly pictures of cats that she found at the library and started showing it to Jimmy who was sitting next to her. Of course, she was the one who got in trouble and not him. That was how it always seemed to go.
The point was, of all the things to get a detention for, she didn't even deserve to be here. Mrs. Baker was dumb, and this whole thing was dumb. Jo didn't exactly mean to make a scene when she thumped her backpack onto the ground and plopped into her chair with her arms folded, but it still happened. Hopefully, she could just fall asleep, and then everyone would be happy.
